📚 Rare Memos From the Inside
I was very surprised to see my tweet about the memo to a PM from the Coinbase CEO do as well as at did:
The original memo came from a list of memos I found on Sriram Krishnan’s website.
He collected some rare ones, and you should check them out, because you probably should write more and better memos anyway:
👀 Product Stacks - Product Manager at Coinbase
Speaking of Coinbase PMs, I found this video from the great Department of Product (great newsletter btw, even if I’m probably competing with them).
Some key takeaways:
Coinbase uses a PPS (Problem and Proposed Solution) document for quick decision-making on issues that don't require executive approval, providing a lightweight way to get cross-functional alignment.
For more complex, strategic decisions, Coinbase uses a RAPID framework (Recommend, Agree, Perform, Input, Decide) to involve a larger group of stakeholders and ensure a thorough evaluation of options and trade-offs.
Customer feedback and user research are crucial for product development at Coinbase, utilizing tools like user testing, customer surveys, and social media monitoring to gather both qualitative and quantitative data to inform product improvements.

Who's George?
I’m an underdog product manager.
Product management in New Zealand (where I live) is still a relatively immature discipline. I also came into it late via data science and UX. I may be older than others, but I often feel like a rookie.
To become better at my craft, I learn and explore new ideas relentlessly.
Then I share high-quality, tried-and-true ideas that can be used right away.
